from two schools, Dea Han Ki Do Fe and Dea Han Heup Fe. The association
expanded rapidly and several clubs were formed in East Anglia under the
direction of Mr Joo.

The first Hapkido
Black Belt grading took place in April 1975. Mr Dennis Brabbin
received his 1st Dan Black Belt from Mr Joo making Mr Brabbin
Great Britain's first Hap Ki Do Black Belt. In November 1975
three other people, Miss Jane Rolph, Mr Peter Hedge and
Mr Fred Adams were also awarded
1st Dan black belt from Mr Joo. There was even an article on the start
of Hapkido in Norwich, in one of the earliest issues of Combat, Volume
1. No. 5.

Dan arrived in England with Grand Master Il Oung Huh 8th Dan.
While in Korea Master Hong had been chief instructor
with the army's special unit and was a member of the country's top Hapkido

leaving Master Hong to continue with the instruction. At this point Mr
Joo retired from teaching Hapkido .

association came, later that year Master Hong went to live and teach in
France. The association changed to Korean Hapkido of Europe.

Australia. Mr Rant joined the group and toured South Korea
with them, training throughout. Master Kim told Mr Rant of his
